Callie Crossley has been inducted into the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) 2025 Hall of Fame. She was among eight journalists who have been inducted at the 50th NABJ anniversary.

Crossley has been part of public radio and TV station GBH, hosts the radio show and podcast “Under the Radar with Callie Crossley” and co-hosts the radio program and podcast “The Culture Show.” She graduated from Wellesley College in 1973 and was also a Harvard University fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism and the Institute of Politics at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Crossley also earned an honorary doctorate of arts degree from Pine Manor College and has an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Cambridge College.

At Boston Public Radio, Crossley received the Associated Press Edward R. Murrow and Clarion awards in 2014 for writing, producing and co-hosting the radio documentary “Witness to History: WGBH’s 1963 Coverage of the March on Washington.” She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 1988 and is a member of the distinguished Academy of New England Journalists. She also earned a Yankee Quill Award in 2019.

Other honors she has received include the Gold Baton DuPont Columbia Award, a national Emmy Award and most notably an Oscar nomination for her work producing “Eyes on the Prize: America’s Civil Rights Years, 1954-1965,” working with the Boston-based film company Blackside Inc. in 1987. Also, she served as senior series producer for the PBS 2003 documentary series “This Far By Faith: African-American Spiritual Journeys.”

For 13 years, Crossley was a TV producer for ABC News’ “20/20” where she reported on health stories like male menopause, breast cancer in young women as well as the possible connection with viral infections and recirculated air in airplanes.

Crossley started her career as a local news reporter at WREC in 1974 in Memphis, Tenn., then moved to WTHR-TV in Indianapolis, Ind. She later became a general assignment reporter for “The Ten O’Clock News” for WGBH. After finishing and being awarded the Nieman Fellowship in 1982, she went back to WGBH as a news reporter. Crossley later joined WGBH Radio in 2010. She has also appeared in shows like NPR’s “The Takeaway,” “Fox 25 Morning News,” CNN’s “Reliable Sources” and “PBS News Hour.”
