As the madness of the college football bowl season escalates toward the upcoming semifinal competition for the NCAA Division One National Championship, the University of Connecticut Huskies and Boston College Eagles concluded their seasons with bowl appearances at Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium.

The East Room of the White House was still buzzing with applause after President Biden entered the storied reception hall Tuesday afternoon with the NCAA men’s basketball champions from the University of Connecticut. 

As the final seconds ticked down on the NCAA Division One Women’s Basketball Championship game, my overwhelming thought for the teams was, “Relief!” When the final buzzer sounded with South Carolina 87 and Iowa 75, I felt delighted for coach Dawn Staley and her Gamecocks team.
