Housing is a huge part of my life, both professionally and personally. My family owned a home that we lost as my father’s substance use disorder overwhelmed him. This experience informs and directs my investment in supportive housing and recovery services at the state-owned Shattuck campus in Jamaica Plain.

Calls to Boston’s 311 line to report discarded needles, open drug use, overdoses and encampments in Franklin Park skyrocketed last year after the city removed tents and improvised shelters from the Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard area and erected temporary housing structures on the Shattuck grounds.
