Better late than never. The old saying, a favorite of parents, certainly applies to Joe Biden’s pardon of Marcus Garvey on the 46th president’s last full day in office.

The controversy over the pardon of the president's son sparked renewed calls for Biden to more broadly use his clemency powers to redress what many see as systemic abuses in the judicial system that leave prisoners of color behind bars or labelled for life as felons.
