With contested races for statewide, county and legislative offices little more than three months away from mail-in balloting, candidates are under pressure to raise funds and get their messages out on the airwaves.

Boston will have more options for voters to avoid standing in line come Election Day. The city’s Board of Election Commissioners Tuesday approved 20 drop box sites and 19 early voting sites for this year’s September 14 preliminary and November 2 general elections.

Boston — and Massachusetts generally — must show that it unilaterally opposes these blatantly racist actions. District 5 City Councilor Ricardo Arroyo has embraced this effort, introducing two proposals to dramatically reform Boston’s municipal elections. These include same-day voter registration and expanded early voting options.
