DeeDee’s Cry

This Sunday, DeeDee’s Cry, a Boston-based organization dedicated to creating safe spaces for conversations about mental health, depression, and suicide prevention in communities of color, will host its annual toy giveaway for the fifth consecutive year in partnership with the Roxbury Unity Parade.

The Boston Foundation is on a mission to better the community through equity. Chief Program Officer Orlando Watkins has been in the role for eight years, and talked about how organizations, like the Foundation, have a unique platform and position to support the community at many levels.

Toy Burton knew she wanted to honor loved ones lost by suicide, and began an effort to restore an abandoned park, King Street Play Area, close to her long-time Roxbury home.
