City of Boston Reparations Task Force

The City of Boston Reparations Task Force (RTF), through the Equity and Inclusion Cabinet, recently announced the launch of their Community Grassroots Partnerships Program. This program is an effort by the RTF to invest up to $70,000 in residents’ efforts to create community-based spaces and honor the untold stories of Black residents of Boston.

Mayor Michelle Wu took another step toward reparations this week, announcing the group of academics and history experts who will lead research efforts into Boston’s role in the transatlantic slave trade and the city’s more recent history of discrimination.

Legislation from state Sen. Liz Miranda would create a task force to consider reparations for the descendants of enslaved people in Massachusetts.
