Black Nativity

For over half a century, the National Center of Afro-American Artists has presented a production of “Black Nativity,” inviting audiences into a musical take on the classic story of the birth of Jesus Christ based on Langston Hughes’s play.

Langston Hughes’ “Black Nativity” has been a Boston tradition for more than 53 years.

For 52 years, Langston Hughes’ stirring telling of the nativity story has rung in the holiday season in Boston with gospel music, African drumming and a moving dance illustrating the birth of Jesus.
