TRACK REHABILITATION, WARE RIVER SECONDARY
Massachusetts Central Railroad is accepting sealed bids to rehabilitate the railroad right-of-way on the Ware River Secondary. The project is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Rail and Transit Division (MassDOT). This Invitation for Bids is issued pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 30, §39M.
THE PROJECT: The project is on the Ware River Secondary, which runs northeast from Palmer, MA, for approximately 25 miles to So. Barre, MA. Furnish labor, equipment and material to perform tie and rail replacement with associated other railroad rehabilitation work. Contractor must show evidence of having worked on an active railroad on a project of equal or greater value and was able to complete the work with no impacts to railroad operations. Construction cost estimate is $4,965,000.
Bidders must be prequalified by MBTA in Class 1–General Transit Construction and/or Class 3–Trackwork for a $5 million contract value.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting be held on Tues., January 17, 2023, 9:00 a.m. Meet at the Palmer Town Building, 4417 Main St., Palmer, MA. In the event of inclement weather that postpones the pre-bid meeting, notice will be given at least 24 hours in advance.
Bids will not be accepted from bidders who do not attend the pre-bid meeting. Sealed paper bids must be delivered to Rob Finley, 2 Olde Barn Way, Acton, MA 01720, by Tues., January 31, 2023, 2:00 p.m. Sealed bids will be publicly opened at 151 Campanelli Dr., Middleborough, MA, at 3:30 p.m.
