The City of Boston Planning Department (the City), acting by its Chief of Planning (the Official), invites sealed submittals for the performance of the services generally described as Small Multifamily Guidebook, and particularly set forth in the Request for Proposals Document (“RFP”). The RFP shall be available at 12:00 PM EST on Monday July 28, 2025 from the City’s Supplier Portal at boston.gov/supplierportal (Bid Event EV00016194). The scope of work is further detailed in the specifications and includes, but is not limited to the following: The Planning Department is seeking a vendor to develop a Guidebook focused on Small Multifamily Housing that provides practical, design-forward guidance for developers, architects, and community partners that will lead to projects that are well-suited to Boston’s neighborhood contexts. The Guidebook should include: 1. Designs that reflect the City’s goals for high-quality, accessible, affordable, and energy-efficient housing across all the City’s neighborhoods and 2. Development models that take into account code requirements and market conditions. This Guidebook will become a resource for CDCs, land trusts, other mission-driven housing partners, and developers who are ready to build these types of projects but need a clear roadmap. The contract will be nine (9) months. Proposals are due no later than 12:00 PM EST on Monday August 18, 2025 via the City’s Supplier Portal at boston.gov/supplierportal (Bid Event EV00016194). Refer to Section V of the RFP for complete information on the submission process and details.
