MassDOT Rail and Transit Division Proposal

Proposals (paper bids only) for the following project will be received by the Rail and Transit Division until Thurs., May 17, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. and at that time publicly opened and read at Rail and Transit Division at 10 Park Plaza, Room 4160 Boston, MA 02116-3973.

Bidders must have or register for a COMMBUYS account in order to bid on this project.

The Bidding for and award of the contract for the following project (609160) is to be in accordance with the requirements of Mass. General Laws Chapter 30 § 39M.

THE PROJECT: On the Cape Main Line at MP 54.31, remove the existing 2-track, 5-span railroad bridge superstructure over the Cohasset Narrows, modify existing substructures and replace superstructure with new welded plate deck girder spans with open timber deck and walkways. The bridge is owned by MassDOT and operated by Mass Coastal Railroad. Construction cost estimate is $8,500,00.00.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting and site tour will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. Meet at Bourne Fire Dept. HQ, 51 Meetinghouse Lane, Sagamore Beach (Bourne) MA. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss outstanding questions relating to the proposed work, the bidding procedures or the required contract provisions. Prospective Bidders shall bring all personal protective equipment which must be worn to access the bridge site.

The electronic version of the contract documents is available only through the COMMBUYS website on April 20, 2018 after 2:00 p.m. EDT. Plans and contract documents will be on display and information will be available at MassDOT Rail and Transit Division office, 10 Park Plaza, Rm. 4160, Boston, MA.

Prospective bidders must be prequalified in accordance with MBTA “Procedures Governing Classification and Rating of Prospective Bidders.” A contract award will not be made to a Contractor who is not pre-qualified by the MBTA in Class 1, General Transit, and Class 4A, Steel Bridges, for an $8,5000,000 contract value prior to the opening of proposals and also to a Contractor who did not attend pre-bid meeting.

MassDOT Rail and Transit Division projects are subject to the rules and regulations of the Architectural Access Board (521 CMR 1.00 et. seq.). Prospective Bidders and interested parties can access this information and more via the internet at www.COMMBUYS.com.
