Boston Scenes 5/29/14

The English High baseball team celebrated their City League Championship on May 26, after defeating Boston International 18-6 in Jamaica Plain. This was the third consecutive championship for the team. Boston Public Schools athletic director Avery Esdaile (far right, rear) was on hand to present the trophy.

Alpha Romeo Ballard Jr. was one of hundreds of spectators viewing the sea of American flags on the west slope of Boston Common in commemoration of Memorial Day as a tribute to those who gave their lives in support of the freedoms of the United States.

Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot (above) delivered the keynote address at the inauguration of Gitte Wernaa as the Elizabeth J. McCormack Chair in the Humanities at Cambridge College early this month.
