Community residents gather for the the Roxbury Historical Society’s Patriot’s Day observance at the First Church of Roxbury. A re-enactor on horseback portrays American Revolutionary War militia member William Dawes, who rode through Roxbury en route to Lexington on the night of April 18, 1775 to warn John Hancock and Samuel Adams they were in danger of being arrested, before continuing on to Lexington and Concord.
