Boston Scenes 10-11-18: Men of Boston Cook for Women’s Health!
The parking lot in front of the Codman Square Health Center was transformed into a gala tent and lit up pink last Thursday night for the 21st annual Men of Boston Cook for Women’s Health event. Local celebrity chefs including Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, Congressman Joe Kennedy III, NHL Hall of Famer Johnny Bucyk, Red Sox alum Jim Corsi, Rep. Russell Holmes, HHS Chief Marty Martinez, and many others donned aprons and served over 800 guests from 30 restaurants.
The annual event, which occurs every October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, raises money for women’s health and integrated social service programming at Codman Square Health Center, and has raised millions since its inception 21 years ago.
“This is a night that I look forward to every year because it is such a fun community event for a great cause,” says Codman Square Health Center CEO Sandra Cotterell. “We are so grateful to everyone who supported the event including our sponsors – Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Appleton Partners, Bob’s Discount Furniture and many others, celebrity chefs, restaurants, Board, staff, and the Dorchester community. Thank you!”
Next year’s Men of Boston Cook for Women’s Health will take place on Thursday, October 3, 2019. Anyone who would like more information about the event can contact Christine Leccese at
