Banner photographer Don West captures Black life
Don West is a seasoned photo journalist and consummate professional. His career began as a freelance photographer for United Press International and the Bay State Banner, for which he has been a critical contributor since the 1960s.
Don’s images have always captured the spirit and character of the people, places and events that he covers. A dedicated newsman to the core, he likes to be where the action is — whether it be across the United States, in Latin America, Africa, China, Europe or the Middle East.
New England’s oldest and largest minority-owned news organization, the Bay State Banner considers Don one of its most valued treasures.
Here is just a sampling of Don West’s photographic work that has appeared in the Banner over the years.
