On Saturday, June 29, 2013 Whittier Street Health Center hosted its 14th Annual Men’s Health Summit Educating, Engaging and Empowering Men for the Future. During the Summit, five health champions were honored with Whittier’s Health Champions Award (L-R) Frank Doyle, Executive Director of Boston HealthNet; Jay Gonzalez, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer of CeltiCare Insurance; Matthew Shadrick, Executive Vice President of Eastern Benefits Group; Frederica M. Williams, President and CEO of Whittier Street Health Center; Billy Blanks Jr., Fitness Celebrity and Choreographer; Dr. Cyril Ubium, Coordinator of the Structured Outpatient Addiction Program (SOAP) at Whittier Street Health Center, and Andrew Davis, President and CEO of Carney Hospital

On Saturday, June 29, 2013 Whittier Street Health Center hosted its 14th Annual Men’s Health Summit Educating, Engaging and Empowering Men for the Future. With more than 300 attendees, the summit, free and open to the public, featured a health fair, free health screenings (including high blood pressure, glaucoma, and prostate cancer), live entertainment, a youth workshop, and a formal program that included the awards ceremony honoring local health champions. An integral part of the summit was to provide a general understanding of men’s health and to educate men on the importance of getting screened for diseases for which they may be at risk.
