On Saturday, June 29, 2013 Whittier Street Health Center hosted its 14th Annual Men’s Health Summit Educating, Engaging and Empowering Men for the Future. With more than 300 attendees, the summit, free and open to the public, featured a health fair, free health screenings (including high blood pressure, glaucoma, and prostate cancer), live entertainment, a youth workshop, and a formal program that included the awards ceremony honoring local health champions. An integral part of the summit was to provide a general understanding of men’s health and to educate men on the importance of getting screened for diseases for which they may be at risk.
