Martha’s Vineyard, MA – The Greater Boston Morehouse College Alumni Association (GBMCAA) will host its second annual The House on the Vineyard Weekend from Friday, August 9, 2018 through Sunday, August 12, 2018 on the beautiful island of Oak Bluffs in Martha’s Vineyard to support Morehouse College, a private historically Black liberal arts college for men located in Atlanta, GA. This event will celebrate and help raise funds for Morehouse College and the GBMCAA.

Weekend Events:

Thursday, August 9th at 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM: A GBMCAA community service opportunity at the Thrift Shop in Vineyard Haven. The Thrift Shop’s  mission is to enhance the lives of those it serves by meeting the comprehensive needs of individuals, families, and the community through a partnership of programs, which provide accessible education as well as health and human services. The duties will consist of reorganizing, purging, and painting.

Friday, August 10th at 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM: The Legacy of Light Lux Awards.  This event will be held at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum honoring businesswoman and community leader Benaree “Bennie” Wiley and Reverend Dr. Otis Moss III (class of ’92)  and will be followed by the Legacy of Light Concert, at which is held in conjunction with the African American film festival.  Live performances at 7:00 PM – 9:15 PM by Grammy Nominated artist, Angie Stone, artist & author, Fonzworth Bentley (class of ’92), and musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer, PJ Morton (class of ’03), and the Woo Factor Band.

Saturday, August 11th at 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Family Fun Beach Party at the Ink Well.  Alumni DJ Tron & Legendary DJs will perform and guests are welcomed to bring games and beach items.  A Clambake at 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM will be held at Joseph Sylvia State Beach in Edgartown, music will be provided, and tickets must be purchased in advance.

Sunday, August 12th at 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Church service will be held at Union Chapel in Oak Bluffs; Reverend Dr. Otis Moss III will be the guest speaker.
