Tafuta! A Young Child’s Search for the True Meaning of Kwanzaa

Tafuta! blends music, dance and poetry to tell the story of a young child who is bullied in school because of his family’s tradition of celebrating Kwanzaa. The child ultimately embraces his heritage, discovers his own voice and self-empowerment and draws on the strength found in this African American tradition to triumph over the bullies. Tafuta is the only play of its kind and is surely going to make audiences understand the importance of family and traditions. The cast includes adults and children ages 7-16 from all over Massachusetts including students from private, public and charter schools. All schools who attend the school matinee will receive a study packet prior to the performance which discusses what Kwanzaa is all about. This will help them understand a lot of the principles that are discussed during the production. To book your child’s school for the December 13th 10am school matinee, please email Musau@originationinc.org
