Our Story! Celebrating the African American Experience through Music, Dance & Spoken Word

Our Story, directed and produced by OrigiNation’s Artistic Director Shaumba-Yandje Dibinga, is a compilation of poetry, dance, music and scenes from historical and current events significant to African and African-American history. These performances will feature students from local colleges, high schools, and middle schools and OrigiNation’s professional youth dance companies. In addition to attending rehearsals the students in the performance participate in educational workshops about the contributions African-American and African men and women in science, health, technology and other areas. These workshops help them prepare for their roles and increase their knowledge about the topics covered in the performance.

***Please note the production includes a lynching scene that may not be suitable for children under 12 years old.

Tickets sold online only.
