King Boston Presents: Exploring Spatial Justice Through Art

King Boston looks forward to this exciting event, where Imari Paris Jeffries will be joined by Lori Nelson of the Mayor’s Office of Resiliency, in kicking-off a one-on-one with world-renowned conceptual artist, Hank Willis Thomas, who is most-known for his works primarily with themes related to perspective, identity, history and pop-culture.

Following, a panel of local Black artists, curators and space activators, will engage in a discussion on how symbols, public artwork, and community space have been used to maintain a power system of oppression and inequity, within Boston. Panelists include Makeeba McCreary, Museum of Fine Arts Boston; Greg Ball, KBX Media; Sheena Collier, Boston While Black; Michael Curry, Mass League; and Jha D. Williams, Mass Design Group.

Together, let’s reframe the historical narrative of Our City, to be representative and inclusive of the Black and Brown experience.
