“Central Boston Elder Services recognizes the critical need for testing in black and brown communities with limited access to health care. We are grateful to Whittier Street Health Center and the City of Boston for this opportunity for the elder residents of Catherine Hardaway Residences and the many others we serve to get tested and have the facts needed to maintain their health and combat this pandemic.” said CBES CEO Michael Vance.

“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to partner with CBES and the City of Boston to make our mobile testing facility and staff available to those who can benefit from testing, health education and contact tracing services, especially the vulnerable elders in our community who must be protected from this virus,” said Frederica M. Williams, President & CEO, Whittier Street Health Center.

State Representative Chynah Tyler said the testing is all-important. “We need to keep our older residents safe and I am thrilled to see CBES and Whittier Street teaming up to provide testing and contact tracing,” she said. “With CBES mobilizing the large numbers of elders they serve and Whittier Street providing the testing capability via their mobile van and outstanding staff members, it’s a win-win for everyone. This partnership should be a statewide model.”

Emily Shea, Commissioner, Age Strong Commission, City of Boston, also praised the efforts of CBES and Whittier Street, saying, “The City of Boston is working hard to contain the Coronavirus through testing and contact tracing, and it is our partner agencies in the community who are able to make this happen.
