CommonwealthChorale concert “Community and Connection”

Experience the rich diversity of American folk songs—music of labor, freedom, love, loss, faith, and joy. Our selections from Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs echo the pioneer spirit and America’s vast landscapes. Nathaniel Dett’s The Chariot Jubilee, an arrangement of Swing Low Sweet Chariot, provides an uplifting experience celebrating our common humanity. Our program also includes a selection of Alice Parker’s gorgeous classic folk song and spiritual arrangements; they reflect her deep love of family and community and of the unity experienced in people singing together.

Join us, tenor Fred C. VanNess, Jr., baritone David McFerrin, and a chamber instrumental ensemble to enjoy this glorious music. Tickets are $40 ($10 for students; ID needed 14 and up) and are available at the door or through CommonwealthChorale.com/tickets.
