Commonwealth Chorale: “Glory and Praise”.

Under the baton of Artistic Director Dr. Michael Driscoll, our November concert features Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms and Francis Poulenc’s Gloria. Premiered in the 1960s, both were influenced by jazz and popular music, and both exemplify the power of ancient sacred texts to express timeless desires for peace and spiritual transcendence. Also on the program are Salomon Sulzer’s Psalm 111 and César Franck’s Psalm 150. This concert also features Sonja DuToit Tengblad, soprano; Leo Balkovetz, tenor and, appropriately, the performance will be in the beautiful Church of the Holy Name.
