Castle of our Skins presents: Ain’t I a Woman

The “Ain’t I a Woman” project explores Black feminism through music, arts, spoken word and history. Castle of our Skins will bring together local creatives, musicians, historians, and the sounds – both old and newly created – from female composers in a celebration of Black women and their creative power. Music by Jessica Mays (world premiere), Jacqueline B. Hairston, Undine Smith Moore, Florence B. Price, Nkeiru Okoye, L. Viola Kinney, and Zenobia Powell Perry will merge with spoken word artistry by local poet Destiny Polk. Preceding the artistic presentation will be a lecture given by Boston historian L’Merchie Frazier. Additionally, four local businesses owned by Black women will be represented for audiences to share and purchase their products with friends and family. This celebration is for all and is not to be missed!

May 26th @ 7:30pm
*Pre-concert lecture at 6:30pm with post concert reception
