Boston Book Festival: Roxbury Edition

Boston’s most beloved book festival is coming to Roxbury!

The full day of free, all-ages festivities will take place at the Bolling Municipal Building in Dudley Square on the same day as the Copley Square main event—on October 13, 2018—providing a rare opportunity to celebrate local authors alongside well-known writers from around the country. The full schedule is available here.

Some not-to-be-missed sessions include teen writing programs; theatrical performances; hands-on kids’ activities; live poetry readings, and special visits by your favorite children’s book character.

Nationally acclaimed writers will be heading directly to you, including Oprah Book Club favorite Tayari Jones!

We’ll also feature local icons, such as ESPN sports writer Howard Bryant, Black Arts Movement leader Askia Touré, and popular poet Simone John.

Kids will enjoy visits by favorite cartoon character Curious George, read-aloud sessions, paper airplane-making contests, hands-on STEM activities and an exciting puppet show that will bring the alphabet to life!

Teens will have their very own session to learn how to be a journalist with the city’s own Teens in Print – Boston’s only entirely teen-run newspaper.
