A Conversation with Tonya Hopkins – The Food Griot

Join the Ladies of the Psi Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for a night all about the Harlem Renaissance.

You will enjoy a virtual food and mixed drink demonstration based on Harlem Renaissance cuisine by Chef Erinn Martin of Made at Home with Erinn, followed by a conversation and Q&A about foods from the period led by Tonya Hopkins, The Food Griot as seen on The Chew. We will go in depth about the “The Great Migration” and how African Americans leaving the farm and working in the factory changed our diet. We will also touch on the introduction of massed produced canned goods in the African American home and its impact on our health.
