A Celebration of Nelson Mandela’s Centenary

Join South Africa Partners and the JFK Library Foundation as we celebrate Nelson Mandela’s Centenary with Max Sisulu, the first black post-apartheid speaker of the National Assembly of South Africa, and his wife Elinor Sisulu, a South African writer and activist. Charlayne Hunter-Gault, American journalist and former foreign correspondent for NPR, PBS and CNN will moderate the discussion. We will also mark Mandela’s 1990 visit to the JFK Presidential Library and Museum.

Max and Elinor are the son and daughter-in-law of Walter and Albertina Sisulu, two of the founders of a democratic South Africa who worked tirelessly alongside Mandela in the fight for a freedom. The event will serve as an opportunity to reflect on Mandela’s visionary leadership, to hear from the next generation of leaders who are carrying his vision forward, and to bring our communities together around common values.
