Desktop Support Specialist – Entry Level

Located in Cambridge in a historic factory building between Porter & Davis Squares, TERC has a great work environment with a casual dress code. We are tech heavy for our size and use current technology. All staff members use Mac laptop computers. As part of an 8 person IT team, you will have the opportunity to learn and do much more than standard Help Desk work.
This is a full time entry-level position working directly with onsite users. Recent college graduates with some Mac computer knowledge are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Imaging, installing, troubleshooting and maintaining/upgrading end-user software and hardware.
- Assisting end-users in the use of various hardware and software, including laptops, desk phones, smartphones, tablets and AV systems.
- Responding to user requests via email, phone and in person, for technical assistance with processes and equipment; providing first level technical support.
- Performing research via internet, help files, manuals, etc., to address specific needs and to maintain systems.
- Performing basic network troubleshooting.
- Handling basic to mid-level special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must have some experience with Mac OS X (does not need to have been in a support role) – please describe your experience in your cover letter.
- Interest and willingness to learn.
- Good written and oral communication skills and analytical problem solving abilities.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- BA/BS in computer related degree, or specialized training (certification) or equivalent work experience.
Preferred skills:
- Experience in a technical support role.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience with A/V systems.
- Experience with smartphones and/or tablets.
- Experience with Windows 7.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders and work in small spaces during installations and upgrades.
