Eastern Bank, a full-service commercial bank headquartered in Boston, today announced the appointment of Paul Alexander as Chief Marketing & Communications Officer.
Alexander, who most recently served as Chief Communications Officer for Liberty Mutual Insurance, brings more than 30 years of experience at Fortune 500 global companies, including Time Inc., Procter & Gamble, and Campbell’s Soup, to Eastern Bank. He will report directly to Eastern Bank President & Chief Operating Officer Bob Rivers and joins Eastern’s 14-member Management Committee.

At Liberty Mutual, Alexander spearheaded all corporate brand marketing, advertising, communications, public relations, event strategy, and major sports sponsorships. He negotiated and secured Liberty Mutual’s first-ever global sponsorship, Liberty Seguros Brazil’s sponsorship of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, as well as Liberty Mutual’s sponsorship of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams. He was also recognized as “Financial Marketer of the Year” in 2011 by the Financial Communications Society.
Prior to joining Liberty Mutual, Alexander spent 6 years as Vice President of Global Advertising and Design for the Campbell Soup Company, and before Campbell’s, he spent 15 years at Procter & Gamble as a Director of Advertising Development and a Brand Manager – 12 years in Cincinnati, Ohio and 3 years in London, England.
Active in the community, Alexander is a member of Myrtle Baptist Church in West Newton and serves on the Board of Directors of several non-profit organizations including The Partnership, Inc., the Museum of Fine Arts (Board of Overseers), and CityStrings United.
Alexander earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and his undergraduate degree in government and political science from Harvard College.
