State Senator Linda Dorcena Forry and Suffolk County Sheriff Steve Tompkins endorsed state Treasurer Steve Grossman in his campaign for governor this week, citing Grossman’s record on small business growth and job creation and his plans for criminal justice reform.
“I am standing with Steve Grossman for Governor because of his proven track record of creating jobs and developing economic opportunity for all residents of the Commonwealth,” said Forry. “Throughout his career, Steve has focused on education, job growth and supporting families. Steve has the experience to hit the ground running on day one as governor of Massachusetts.”
“Steve will lead with progressive criminal justice reform policies. He will treat addiction as a public health crisis by investing in prevention and expand the success of proven rehabilitation programs,” said Tompkins. “I’m proud to support Steve in his campaign for governor because he understands that creating widespread economic opportunity requires building vibrant, healthy, and safe communities across the Commonwealth.”
Grossman took office as state treasurer in 2011 after a long career as a small businessman, philanthropist, and progressive political activist. The officially endorsed candidate of the Democratic Party, he is facing Attorney General Martha Coakley and health care professional Donald Berwick in the Sept. 9 Democratic primary.
