Most people have an inkling about the power of the ballot, but they are now just beginning to learn about the power of the dollar. Of course, everyone knows that wealthy individuals wield extraordinary power in American society. In the early days of the 2020 campaign, liberals were insisting that the wealthy could not be permitted to buy an election. Now we are about to witness the power of the consumer boycott. Goya products are under fire.
Robert Unanue, the CEO of Goya Foods, went to the White House and lavishly praised Donald Trump. Now we will see whether the nation’s Latinx people endorse that perspective. Much is at stake.
Blacks and Latinx people have been affiliated politically to achieve equality in America. Trump is an avowed white supremacist. If Latinx people cannot do without Goya products until after the election, Blacks should understand that they are not politically reliable.
At any rate, Black leaders should give some attention to boycotts as a future strategy.
