After an exhaustive search, the board of directors of Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI) announced the placement of John Lloyd as their new executive director effective July 8, 2019.
Lloyd brings over 17 years’ of cross-sector experience in strategy consulting, project management and organizational development and leadership. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Applied Learning and Development at the University of Pennsylvania and holds an MBA in Management from Bentley University.
“On behalf of DSNI’s Board of Directors, we are thrilled to welcome John Lloyd as our new Executive Director,” said Keila Barros, DSNI board president. “The board was adamant about hiring an executive director who had extensive knowledge of and experience in financial management but most importantly, someone who demonstrated a commitment to DSNI’s mission and values. John brings to this role over 17 years of experience. It is clear that he is passionate about the rich history of this community and ensuring that resident engagement and leadership continue to be at the center of DSNI’s work.”
Lloyd joins the community-based nonprofit at a critical time of complex challenges and dynamic opportunities as the Roxbury/North Dorchester community it serves sees rising rents and the displacement of long-term residents. With a strategic focus on encouraging development without displacement and resident and youth empowerment, the organization is continuing to develop strong leaders to make its vision a reality.
“I am both thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the DSNI community of partners, friends, and family,” Lloyd said. “I believe DSNI is at an inflection point at this period of time that requires a bold vision and the tenacity to achieve that vision. The DSNI community lives in a space where broad initiatives come together to affect positive change for individuals. A mission-based leader must lead from both head and heart. I have a genuine interest and passion for community development and look forward to working with the community at-large and stakeholders of DSNI.”
