Rick Jakious has been named chief executive officer of the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network (MNN), the association that represents the Commonwealth’s nonprofit sector.

Jakious comes to MNN from City Year, Inc., where he served most recently as the director of its national corporate Team Sponsor program. He is the former deputy director for City Year in Boston, and earlier helped to found City Year Seattle/King County.

He succeeds David Magnani, former Massachusetts state senator who served as MNN’s first organizational leader. MNN was launched in 2007 with the goal of strengthening community by serving nonprofit organizations in the Commonwealth.

MNN now includes almost 500 members representing nonprofits in every part of Massachusetts, from the Berkshires to the Cape and Islands.

“Rick has established himself as an accomplished and effective leader at City Year and brings a compelling set of leadership skills and experiences to MNN,” said David Shapiro, who serves as chair of the MNN Board of Directors.

A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, he lives in Swampscott with his wife, a middle school math teacher, and their two sons.

“This position is an honor and a challenge,” said Jakious.
