The YMCA of Greater Boston has announced Karina Teixeira as the new executive director of the Huntington Avenue branch. Having worked with the YMCA of Greater Boston for over 15 years, Teixeira will help drive the organization’s mission and commitment in the South End, Back Bay and Fenway communities.

“The Huntington Ave. Branch is thrilled to welcome Karina Teixeira as the next Executive Director,” said James Morton, President and CEO, YMCA of Greater Boston. “With over a decade of experience working across the YMCA of Greater Boston, Teixeira will provide valuable insights to lead this branch to continued success.”

Teixeira started her YMCA career in child development where she spent years supporting and leading the summer camp and out-of-school time programs. Currently the executive director of Teen Development, Teixeira works to lead the teen work vision across the YMCA of Greater Boston Association. Teixeira also previously served as the director of operations for the Oak Square Branch of the YMCA, where she managed a $4.5 million budget and worked to drive the culture and quality of the programming.

In addition to her role as the executive director of Teen Development, Teixeira serves as the co-chair for the Latino Resource Network Group and supports the Global Diversity efforts on behalf of the YMCA of Greater Boston. She is also a co-chair for the YMCA National Achievers Network and supports YMCAs nationwide by providing philanthropic, program and operation strategies for Black and Latino Achievers Programs.

“I am so excited to start a new chapter in my career,” Teixeira said. “Throughout my time at the YMCA of Greater Boston, I’ve had the unique opportunity to guide young people into socially responsible leaders and assets in their community. I look forward to bringing this same passion to the Huntington Ave community.”
