All RCC students are now engaging in virtual classroom sessions, due to the ongoing pandemic. Many RCC students are preparing for their third semester of learning primarily through virtual and online classes. Although many of them are balancing significant personal and professional responsibilities with their education, they continue to thrive. Here, three students share their experience with online learning.

“Working virtually, rather than in person, has certainly been a learning experience for me. Although virtual learning has given me the ability to work from the comfort of my home, I’ve realized that I prefer the everyday in-person interactions with others to a Zoom call. This tight-knit RCC family has been able to overcome so much in such a short time. Knowing that we are all in this together has given me both hope and motivation during these difficult times.” — Jamar Noble Current RCC Student

“In March, when COVID hit, Professor Akhter quickly and successfully shifted our organic chemistry coursework to an online platform. We covered the remaining coursework, watched videos to simulate the in-person labs, and finished out the semester strong. Additionally, before the global pandemic, I completed three hybrid courses and thrived. RCC has the capacity and support systems in place to help students complete their academic goals. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity and the experience I gained.” — Natalie Kaufman, AA in Health Careers, ’20, Accepted to UMass Boston’s Accelerated BSN Program (Spring 2021)

“Juggling my online classes while maintaining my children’s online classes and upholding family responsibilities can be challenging. However, my professors have been very accommodating, understanding, and committed to helping me succeed and graduate. I am truly thankful for all of the encouragement and ongoing support I have received at RCC. Overall, I enjoy online classes and they allow me the flexibility I need to succeed.” — Latoya Malone, Current RCC Student
