Jane C. Edmonds has been elected chair of Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries’ board of directors. Edmonds is vice president of Programming and Community Outreach at Babson College. She succeeds Bob Gittens, who is the executive director of Cambridge Family and Children’s Services.

“Goodwill has always been a positive social force and a leader for good,” said Edmonds, who has served on the Goodwill board since 2012. “As chair, I look forward to working with my colleagues on the board as we continue to support and advance the Goodwill mission in the community.”

“Jane’s contributions to Goodwill as a board member have always been strategic, thoughtful, and forward-thinking,” said Joanne Hilferty, President and CEO of Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries. “Goodwill is fortunate to have a leader like Jane at the helm of our board.”

Edmonds is well known in the Boston community and has been a leader in diversity and workforce development for more than 20 years. Before taking a position at Babson, she was a senior teaching fellow at Northeastern University and was also the CEO of a diversity and workforce consulting agency. She served in Gov. Mitt Romney’s cabinet as the secretary of Workforce Development and, earlier, was the chair of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. Recently, she was appointed to the Massachusetts Group Insurance Commission by Gov. Charlie Baker. She is a member of the Boston Women’s Workforce Council.

Edmonds is a graduate of Harvard University and has a law degree from Boston College Law School.

For more than 120 years, Goodwill has provided job training programs and partnered with the business community to provide meaningful work opportunities for individuals with barriers to self-sufficiency. Goodwill also operates Boston Career Link, a one-stop career center that offers universal access to a broad range of services for job seekers. The Goodwill Stores in eastern and central Massachusetts provide jobs and on-the-job training opportunities while they offer quality, low-cost goods to individuals and families looking for value.
