Kenia “KJ” Grubbs has recently been appointed the new executive director of the Berkshire Partners Blue Hill Boys and Girls Club.
Grubbs, a former attendee of the Boys and Girls Club in Boston, graduated from Boston Latin School in 2014 before attending Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Following her time in undergrad, Grubbs worked as the mentor program coordinator for The Clubhouse Network, an internationally operating nonprofit organization with branches in Boston dedicated to the academic enrichment of young people. While in that role, she was able to oversee the implementation of both volunteer and mentorship programs while also performing other administrative duties within the organization.
Grubbs then moved on to working with the Neighborhood House Charter School, where she served as the out-of-school manager for over two years. In this position, she was able to design and facilitate the implementation of fresh new curricula pertaining to students in grades K-7.
She was also the on-site director and dean for summer academic programming for elementary, middle, and high school students. In addition to those duties, similarly to her position with The Clubhouse Network, Grubbs also performed a myriad of administrative duties.
Now, in her role as the executive director for the Berkshire Partners Blue Hill Boys and Girls Club, Grubbs will have the opportunity to use the skills she’s acquired through her previous roles in the nonprofit youth engagement and empowerment sector to usher in a new era of prosperity for the children who are served by the Berkshire Partners Blue Hill Boys and Girls Club.
Her depth of experience in the nonprofit sector about fundraising and administrative work, her ability to design and implement effective and engaging curriculum, and her clear passion for mentorship and volunteerism will allow her to bolster the clubs mission in ways that will not only positively impact the children but the community at large.
“KJ is a remarkable leader, demonstrating a meaningful balance of her professional expertise and personal connection to our mission. Her journey from Club member to executive director exemplifies the transformative impact BGCB can have, and her leadership will be invaluable as we continue to empower the young people of Boston,” said Robert Lewis Jr., Nicholas President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston.
