David C. Oluigbo, a senior at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was recently been named a 2025 Rhodes Scholarship Recipient.
Originally from Washington, DC, Oluigbo majors in Artificial Intelligence and Decision Making at MIT. During his time at MIT, Oluigbo has worked as an undergraduate researcher in the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and in the EV Fedorenko’s Language Lab.
Oluigbo has been published numerous times at the National Institute of Health (NIH) and also had the opportunity to volunteer with the organization along with others, including Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the McGovern Institute for Brain Research, and in his spare time, works as an EMT. Oluigbo’s interests and talents expand outside of technology and medicine, as he also goes by ‘DJ Chidi’ and performs shows in all genres of music using AI (artificial intelligence) to mix sounds and beats.
Oluigbo shares this extraordinary accomplishment and is amongst 32 U.S. representatives who have been selected to be a part of the 2025 Rhodes Scholarship Class of 3,000 applicants. Criteria for the Rhodes Scholarship emphasize “academic excellence, the energy to use one’s talents to the fullest, attributes such as truth, courage, kindness, and devotion to duty, and the moral force of character and instincts to lead. Oluigbo will pursue a master’s degree in applied digital health and modeling for global health through the Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford in the fall.
