Roxbury Community College Foundation’s “Legends of Roxbury” annual gala
On December 3, the Roxbury Community College Foundation’s annual gala “Legends of Roxbury: A Celebration of Black Women in Broadcast Media,” raised more than $170,000 to support student services at the College. The RCCF virtual event celebrated the achievements of pioneering Black journalists Sarah-Ann Shaw, Carmen Fields, and Rev. Liz Walker. Other participants in the celebration included RCC President Dr. Valerie Roberson, RCCF Chair Reverend Dr. Ray Hammond, RCC Board of Trustees Chair Sheriff Steven Tompkins, and Mayor Martin J. Walsh. The event was hosted by Tashanea Whitlow, an alumnus of RCC and anchor at Black News Channel.
