Unity is necessary to build and retain a strong political bloc in Roxbury. Controversial issues will inevitably arise, but competent leaders must avoid unnecessary conflict.
Now we have a committee foolishly insisting that “it is time to rename Dudley Square, Nubian Square!” Many longtime Roxbury residents are unwilling to support the change. They will vote “NO” on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Those in support of the change are willing to sacrifice harmony and unity by insisting upon such a divisive and unproductive issue. Why sacrifice solidarity over a name that has little positive meaning to most residents?
Vote NO on Tuesday, Nov. 5!!!
