The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the appointment of Yvonne Garcia as the new chair of its Women’s Network Advisory Board. Garcia, global head of Client Solutions and Project Management Office at State Street Corporation, will officially assume the role Jan. 1, 2019.
In her role as chair, Garcia will lead a dynamic group of senior-level women from the Chamber’s board of directors and membership who help to shape the direction and development of the Women’s Network. In addition, advisory board members serve as ambassadors for the Chamber’s expansive programs and initiatives designed to connect, advance and celebrate professional women in the Greater Boston region.
The Women’s Network was created in 1994 to help strengthen the professional connections of women at all career levels and better engage them in the Greater Boston business community. The multifaceted program features prominent speaker programs, networking events, and roundtables on current issues affecting women, as well as the annual Pinnacle Awards, one of the largest and most prestigious celebration of professional women in the region.
Garcia assumes the position of chair as the Chamber marks the 25th anniversary of the Women’s Network. The anniversary celebration will be a running theme throughout the year for Chamber programming, including the 25th Anniversary of the Pinnacle Awards which will be held on Feb. 1, 2019 at the Boston Marriott Copley Place Hotel. As State Street’s global head of client solutions and PMO, Garcia develops solutions for Fortune 100 companies in the financial sector by delivering superior service to clients and deploying cutting edge technology and complex consulting engagements for State Street clients. She is also an active leader of local and national communities, including service as the chairwoman of the largest Latino professional organization in the country, ALPFA, where she tripled their membership to a record-high of 92,000. She also chairs the Hispanic Scholarship Fund for Boston and serves on the boards of The Partnership, Inc., Milagros para Niños at Boston Children’s Hospital, and the Greater Boston Chamber Board
of Directors.
Garcia holds an MBA from Boston University in finance and marketing and a BA from SUNY Albany. She holds a certificate in economics and culture from La Sorbonne in Paris, France. In 2018, Garcia received an honorary doctorate from Cambridge College.
