Pathways Pathways for Children President and Chief Executive Officer Sue Todd announced that Eric D. Mitchell has been selected as vice president and chief operating officer.
Pathways provides early childhood education, serving families in 14 communities including Gloucester, Salem, Danvers, Beverly and Peabody. It serves more than 500 students and families annually with various programs, including Head Start, that reach children from birth to age 12.
Mitchell joins Pathways from Boston’s Action for Boston Community Development where he most recently served as deputy director of field operations providing operational leadership for 14 centers throughout Boston. He previously was director of ABCD neighborhood service centers in the South End and Dorchester and was outreach and policy director for Head Start and Children’s Services. Among his board memberships have been United Way of Massachusetts Bay, Dorchester Board of Trade and Roxbury Youthworks Initiative.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Tufts University and master’s degrees in public administration and in political science, as well as a graduate certificate in human services management, from Suffolk University. Mitchell is a Danvers resident.
“I love the work that Pathways has been doing on the North Shore for the past 50 years,” said Mitchell in a statement. “My interest in serving children and families as well as wanting to have a significant impact in a community led me to Pathways. The opportunity to expand the reach of its programs to a broader audience, to be innovative and to develop partnership with other organizations is exciting. Extending the reach of quality early education means that more children and more families will be served by this outstanding organization.”
