Counselor Part Time

REPORTS TO: Clinical Director

Gavin Foundation is a non-profit multi-service agency providing comprehensive, community- based substance abuse education, prevention, treatment and recovery support services throughout Greater Boston. Our vast array of services include; outpatient services, school based services, criminal justice programs, reentry programs, ATS/CSS, adolescent and adult recovery homes and a recovery support center.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Work with a team comprised of medical professionals, clinicians and case managers in our ATS/CSS located in Quincy, MA, providing support, counseling and community referrals to individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders. This will include facilitating individual and group counseling sessions and providing aftercare case management planning services.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct bio-psychosocial assessment
• Complete intake paperwork- familiarity with MA DPH EIM/ESM preferred
• Facilitate psycho-education groups
• Use of MI based counseling
• Knowledge of the 12 Steps of Recovery
• Formulate treatment plan and provide timely documentation
• Attend weekly treatment team supervision and biweekly individual supervision
• Provide crisis intervention when necessary
• Perform other related task and duties as assigned by the Clinical Director

REQUIREMENTS

• Masters, CADC, LADC I or II
• Knowledge of the ASAM criteria
• Experience with utilization review for insurance payment
• Must have effective speaking and writing skills
• Three years in the field of alcoholism and substance abuse
• Familiarity with Clinic Management Software a Plus
• Basic Computer Skills (MS Office) and the desire/ability to learn new software
