JazzBoston Honors Charles Yancey Sunday, Jan. 31st in Fort Point
City Councilor Charles Yancey convened a hearing of the Post Audit and Oversight Committee, a legacy of his time in city government, sharing worries about Boston Police and Fire.

Scores of jazz musicians and fans from Boston’s political, entertainment, arts and business communities will gather in Fort Point this Sunday to help JazzBoston (www.jazzboston.org) honor former City Councilor Charles Yancey at the organization’s 10th anniversary members and friends celebration.

Councilor Yancey is being honored for his work as a longtime friend of and advocate for Boston’s jazz community.

JazzBoston’s new CEO and Board Chairman Emmett Price will host the event, along with President Pauline Bilsky and other board members.

Among the expected guests: State Senator Linda Dorcena Forry; City Councilors Ayanna Pressley and Tito Jackson; Museum of African American History’s Marita Rivero and Lynn DuVal Luse; Wally’s Jazz Café owner Elynor Walcott; The Lung Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital Co-Director Dr. Bruce Levy; ArtsBoston’s Jen Falk; World Music CRASHarts’s Cheryl Weber.

The celebration includes live music with Frank Wilkins and WeJazzUp, featuring Wannetta Jackson, and a jam session finale.
