East Cambridge Savings Bank’s Marketing Department is actively recruiting for a Community Relations/Public Relations Officer.
Function:
Under the general direction of the Vice President – Marketing Officer, organizes, oversees and administers the activities of the community relations and public relations function in accordance with established Bank policies, procedures and strategic goals.
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent through specialized coursework and training
- Five years of progressive experience in a public relations or community relations role, preferably within a banking environment.
- Well developed planning, organization and analytical skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills, verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to speak in public.
- Extensive experience with written communication.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Directs the function of public relations, which includes Community Relations, for the Bank. Oversees press relations, developing and maintaining favorable public relations with the community, press and corporate boards.
- Manages and coordinates public relations activities, which include press relations, oversight of the preparation of all corporate press releases, and drafting of news articles and other written pieces for industry-related publications. Contacts and works with internal and external sources to develop articles.
- Acts as a media spokesperson for the Bank. Issues responses to the media when called upon for quotes or other information from the public.
- Develops and implements community outreach programs including social and community awareness incentives. Serves as initial contact with organizations and helps to design various programs. Identifies volunteer opportunities and coordinates the Bank’s involvement through Team ECSB.
- Manages the relationships necessary to grow the Bank by building long term relationships with non-profit organizations and forming strategic partnerships within the community. Connects and interacts with the community on a regular basis in an effort to raise public awareness of the Bank in order to maintain and expand relationships.
- Serves as Community Relations Officer and Clerk of East Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation. Evaluates all donation requests from community and makes recommendations to the Bank’s Board and Charitable Foundation.
- Organizes Bank events and communicates in an effort to contribute to their success by informing and involving the community. Publicizes community events on the Bank’s website, social media pages and community calendars. Writes and edits news releases to promote all sponsorships and events. Works with local journalists and other media sources to communicate events/sponsorships.
- Maintains knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as best practices, in area of responsibility.
- Manages special projects and/or programs, which include conducting research, problem solving and making recommendations for improvement.
- Prepares and monitors operating budgets for Community/Public Relations and the East Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation.
- Represents Division as needed by serving on various committees and by participating in various meetings.
- Maintains procedures manual to ensure it is current and compliant with applicable laws and best practices.
- Maintains knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulatory requirements. Ensures that management and staff members complete BSA related annual training in a timely manner and that all BSA procedures are followed when applicable. Identifies and reports compliance related issues and suspicious activity.
