Boston Youth Sanctuary (www.bostonyouthsanctuary.org) offers clinical and case management services that support children and families from the Boston community. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where at-risk youth ages 6 to 11 years old are encouraged to express themselves positively and gain sustainable coping skills that aid in academic, community and home life success. BYS is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to serve as a dynamic leader with a strong commitment to support the process of creating a shared vision and implementation of the BYS mission.
Responsibilities include: The COO will be responsible for the management of quality programming, human resources management, operations management and financial management.
- Ensure that all program contracts are monitored, including goals and objectives, fiscal compliance, program reports, development and negotiations.
- Implement and oversee agency quality assurance programs.
- Ensure that BYS complies with all Federal, State, and County laws with regard to personnel law, affirmative action, insurance requirements, and employee safety.
- Responsible for personnel policies and procedures, staff training and development, and share responsibility for hiring and supervision of all agency personnel
- Develop and monitor all interagency memorandums of agreement.
- Implement agency contracts, ensure vendors adhere to program guidelines; ensure the agency has adequate insurance.
- Work with the Executive Director, Board of Directors and staff to develop an annual financial and budget; responsible for the implementation of the agency’s financial plan.
- Oversee all agency expenditures and revenues; ensure adequate resources for the implementation of the strategic plan.
- Participate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors in fundraising activities.
- Ensure that relationships between the organization and its stakeholders and partners are open and cooperative.
- Advocate for the children, youth and families of the BYS communities that the agency serves.
- Ensure that BYS programs are family centered and strength based.
Qualifications include: Master’s degree preferred from an accredited school. 10+ years of relevant work/business management experience in a non-profit organization preferred; human services sector experience preferred. Leadership skills, with ability to bring BYS together under the agency’s mission; strategic planning, to lead and develop a vision and develop long range plans to implement that vision. Ability to scale a start-up organization; experience producing RFPs and negotiating contracts. Knowledge of the BYS community and the State’s human service network; understanding of local and state politics and how they affect state agencies; understanding of social change and the role of community-based organizations; knowledge of family services and family dynamics; basic knowledge of a clinical service delivery model. Development experience; knowledge of the funding community and ability to connect with potential funding sources as the face of BYS.
Candidate must be able to pass a background check which includes CORI, DCF, SORI and fingerprinting.
