What’s Hot in the City this weekend!

Tonight (Thursday) soul band Mad Satta perform at the Institute of Contemporary Art at 6 p.m. Admission: Free; www.icaboston.org.

Celebrate Bastille Day on Friday with The French Cultural Center on Marlborough Street in the Back Bay. The night will feature live musical performances, food, and drinks for purchase from some of Boston’s best French restaurants. Tickets: $28 in advance; $35 at the door (subject to availability). Tickets are non-refundable. Strollers and backpacks are not allowed. Free for children under 10. www.frenchculturalcenter.org

Jamaica Plain Porchfest returns for its second year this Saturday from 12 noon – 6 p.m. This year’s lineup includes more than 100 acts in various musical genres such as Afro-pop, indie, rock, jazz, folk, and classical. The six-hour event has also expanded to feature spoken word, circus art, storytelling, theater, dance, and a “politician’s porch.” Free; Rain date is Sunday, July 12 in Jamaica Plain. Comedian Janeane Garofalo performs at the Paradise Rock Club this Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets: $34 General Admission; www.ticketmaster.com.

Also on Saturday is the 2015 Hip Hop Fest featuring Slaine, Dutch Rebelle, EDO.G., Akrobatick, The Floorlords and more, performing at the Middle East Downstairs in Central Square, Cambridge. Doors open at 7p.m. 18+; $13 in advance/$15 day of show.
