AmeriCorps Financial Manager

Position Summary
The AmeriCorps Financial Manager is a full time position, reporting to the Associate Director of AmeriCorps Finance, and will work collaboratively with the other AmeriCorps Financial Manager. The Manager is primarily responsible for providing financial compliance, analysis, and reporting support to the AmeriCorps National Direct program staff.
Specific Responsibilities
Managing the financial component of the AmeriCorps National Direct Program:
- Assist Associate Director in ensuring compliance and timely reporting to the Corporation for National and Community Service.
- Work in collaboration with other Financial Manager to build and maintain procedures and systems that facilitate financial record keeping for the AmeriCorps National Direct Program grant.
- Act as an expert on federal financial guidelines to the AmeriCorps team.
Managing the financial relationship with the YouthBuild affiliates that are AmeriCorps National Direct subgrantees:
- Provide technical assistance to a portfolio of up to 35 AmeriCorps National Direct subgrantees so as to improve their overall financial management at local YouthBuild programs.
- Review and approve portfolio of program’s AmeriCorps operating budgets.
- Review and approve portfolio of program’s monthly financial reimbursement reports.
- Create and maintain systems to gather and track financial reports and data from each subgrantees
- Provide telephone technical assistance to portfolio of programs related to AmeriCorps reimbursement requests and procedures.
- Maintaining relationships within Program Investment and other departments in YouthBuild USA that work with AmeriCorps National Direct subgrantees:
- Partner with AmeriCorps team to ensure that consistent technical assistance is provided to all AmeriCorps National Direct subgrantees.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of YouthBuild USA AmeriCorps conferences – AmeriCorps Management Conference and other conferences.
- Travel to YouthBuild programs, multi-site gatherings, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of YouthBuild USA wide activities as requested.
Desired Skills, Characteristics, and Experience
We are looking for a results-driven team player with superior judgment, clear communication style, demonstrated experience in financial management and multi-site program implementation.
The ideal Manager will have:
- At least 2-4 years of experience in financial or grants management in organizations that have a network of programs/affiliates or comparable experience, preferably with federal funders;
- At least 2 years in an accounting-related function, including experience reading and deciphering general ledgers;
- A record of accomplishment working in diverse, entrepreneurial work environments;
- A demonstrated ability to think and act strategically, tactically, and creatively in a fast-paced environment;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- An high level of orientation towards detail; with an analytical framework
- A track record of communicating detailed information to others;
- Ability and comfort with multiple projects having different foci and deadlines;
- A customer service orientation; and
- Ability to be flexible
- An Associate’s Degree; a Bachelor’s Degree is a plus;
