A national nonprofit founded in 2004, Class Action inspires action to end classism. We help people with a dynamic framework and analysis, as well as a safe space, for people of all backgrounds to identify and address issues of class, classism and race/class intersections. Our program work includes popular education workshops, first-generation student support, intersections with other oppressions and publications about class and classism. We are a project of the Institute of Policy Studies Program on Inequality.

We are seeking a social-justice minded, highly-organized and self-motivated part-time (15-20 hours/week) Office Manager for our offices in Jamaica Plain, MA (near the Green Street T).

The Office Manager is responsible for organizing and coordinating all organizational operations and procedures in order to ensure organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

Administrative / Bookkeeping 65%

  • Maintains efficient office operations, including but not limited to: answering phones; filing; maintaining office supplies, data entry
  • Provides pro-active administrative support to the staff and trainers, including calendar maintenance and project management for workshops (writing up and sending out contracts, collecting and cataloging gig material, etc.)
  • Completes and tracks accounts payable and accounts receivable using Quickbooks
  • Processes and tracks orders from the online store
  • Recommends and implements improvements to office processes

Development Operations 35%

  • Provides operational and administrative support for seasonal appeals
  • Provides support for fundraising efforts and workshop marketing
  • Processes gifts, including entry in Sales Force, processing thank you letters within 48 hours of gift receipt, and preparing deposits
  • Completes regular updates and maintenance on the Class Action website
  • Assists with all mailings including querying database, printing, production and mailing

Competencies include:

  • Able to multi-task, prioritize work and be attentive to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of practices of office management and equipment functioning
  • Experienced and knowledgeable with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; experienced with QuickBooks
  • Prior experience with fundraising databases, particularly Sales Force preferred
  • Prior experience with Google apps, including Calendar and Docs

An Ideal Candidate:

  • Is reliable, flexible with sound judgment and good teamwork skills.
  • Has a minimum of 2 years administrative experience
  • Demonstrates an ability to work well under pressure, and manage multiple priorities and projects effectively
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; has good writing and editing abilities.
  • Has experience with Quickbooks, Salesforce and WordPress
