Boston Girls Invited To Boston Center for Youth and Families Citywide Girls Summit
Boston Centers for Youth and Families citywide Summit for Girls.

Dedicated to empowering young females in Boston, Boston Centers for Youth and Families (BCYF) will host their annual Citywide Girls Summit, titled “The Arts”, Saturday August 16 at Simmons College.

This year’s summit will be devoted to creativity and self-expression. Girls ages 11-15 are invited to take part in songwriting, poetry, painting, performing arts, mural design, and graphic design workshops. Councilor Ayanna Pressley and Chief of the Mayor’s Office of Women’s Advancement Megan Costello will be among the number of inspirational guest speakers who are attending the event. There will also be live music from singer-songwriter and talented teen, Angelina Botticelli.

BCYF understands the importance of enrichment opportunities for young girls and believes that this Citywide Girls Summit will allow for girls to connect with peers, gain hands-on experience in various art forms, be inspired by talented professional women, and receive valuable resources for the upcoming school year.

BCYF is committed to enhancing the quality of Boston’s residents by offering a wide range of comprehensive programs, from childcare to adult education, based on the needs and interests of a neighborhood. They have developed specialized programs, entitled BCYF G.I.R.L.S, that aim to empower Boston girls and help them develop into healthy, strong, and self-confident women. Their Girls Leadership Corps, for example, encourages teen girls to lead community service initiatives and provides them with leadership development workshops. While the Citywide Girls Summit happens annually, girls can take part in the BCYF G.I.R.L.S programs all year round.

The Citywide Girls Summit will be held from 10:00am to 2:00pm at Simmons College, Linda K. Paresky Conference Center, 300 The Fenway. The event is free, and also includes lunch, but pre-registration is recommended. Please e-mail BCYF’s Girls Initiative Coordinator, erika.butler@boston.gov, to reserve a spot or call 617-635-4920 x2314. For updated information follow @BCYFCenters and like BCYFBoston.
